Not sure if we cover your village? Phone the local number and we will let you know.

Northwich is a salt-town with the Weaver winding through it and a long history of subsidence-shaped streets, but for the families we visit it is the everyday geography that matters: the towpath toward Anderton, the lift itself, the meadows at Marbury, the woods at Hartford. Many of our older dogs have walked those routes for years and many of the cats have lived in the same terrace off Castle Street or Witton Street since they were kittens. We cover Northwich itself, including Castle, Witton, Leftwich, Rudheath and Lostock Gralam, and we travel out to Hartford, Davenham, Barnton, Anderton, Comberbach, Great Budworth, Winsford and Cuddington. We will also reach Tarporley, Acton Bridge and Weaverham on request. Our vets are RCVS-registered. Sedation is the first step so your pet is asleep before anything else, and the visit is calm and unrushed. We can run the appointment in the front room, the kitchen, a conservatory or the back garden depending on where your pet is most settled. Cremation is handled through a trusted Cheshire provider, with private and communal options, and ashes are returned within 48 hours. Costs are explained on the booking call and there are no additions on the day. The number on this page is the local Northwich line; it is answered by someone who books our local vets and knows mid-Cheshire well.

Common questions.

How do I know it is time?

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.

How quickly can you come?

Most visits across Northwich and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.

What happens during the visit?

Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.

Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?

Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£60 each, or £89 combined). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.

Can my children or other pets be there?

Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.

What about cremation and aftercare?

We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.

Where will my pet be cremated from Northwich?

Cremation is arranged through a trusted North West partner, so your pet stays in the local area. The cremation partner collects your pet directly from your home in Northwich after the appointment, and they return the ashes, usually within 48 hours. If you would prefer communal cremation, with no ashes returned, that option is available too. Either way, the choice is yours and we will explain everything before the visit.

Do you cover Hartford?

Yes, Hartford sits within our Northwich cover area and we visit there regularly. If you are right on the edge of where the Northwich team reaches, please phone the local number first to confirm. Most postcodes around Northwich are covered without a travel surcharge, and we will be straight with you if a different local team would actually get to you faster.

How things end matters.

We are here whenever you are ready.

Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Northwich team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
