Cats often find a clinic visit harder than the procedure itself. Carriers, car journeys and unfamiliar environments can turn a difficult day into a distressing one. The at-home visit lets your cat stay where they are calm.
What the visit looks like
A calm, predictable sequence.
Most home visits with cats are quieter, slower and shorter than people expect. The vet works at your cat’s pace, not theirs.
Arrival without fuss
The vet arrives calmly, keeps movement and noise to a minimum, and lets your cat approach in their own time. There is no chase and no handling your cat does not want.
A gentle sedative
A small first injection given in whatever position your cat is settled in, including on a sofa cushion, on your lap or even under a piece of furniture. Your cat drifts to sleep within a few minutes.
The peaceful passing
Once your cat is deeply relaxed, the vet gives a second injection that allows their heart to stop peacefully, without pain or distress.
Time, and then aftercare
You can take as long as you need. If you have requested cremation aftercare, your pet will be collected at the time agreed with you, either shortly after the appointment or later if you prefer.
The visit happens on the chair, bed or sunny spot your cat has chosen, in the room they know best.
Anxious or fractious cats
Cats who hide from strangers are part of why this service exists. Many anxious or fractious cats find clinic visits very difficult, so our vets take a gentle, patient approach and work around where your cat feels safest. The sedative can often be given wherever your cat has settled, including under furniture if it is safe to do so.
Aftercare arranged in advance
We can arrange private or companion (communal) cremation with a trusted local provider. If you choose private cremation, ashes are usually returned within 48 hours, and keepsake options such as paw prints or fur clippings can be discussed so everything is handled according to your wishes.
