Not sure if we cover your village? Phone the local number and we will let you know.

Rochdale sits in a bowl below the moors, with Healey Dell to the north and the long climb up into Rossendale to the east. The towns of the Rossendale valley, Bacup, Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Whitworth, are tightly held communities with terraces stepped into the hillsides and a lot of dogs that have walked the moors above them for years. We cover Rochdale itself, including Norden, Bamford, Castleton, Spotland, Wardle, Littleborough and Milnrow, and we travel up the valley to Whitworth, Bacup, Stacksteads, Waterfoot, Rawtenstall, Haslingden and Helmshore. We can also reach Heywood, Middleton and the villages out toward Ramsbottom on request. Our vets are RCVS-registered. Sedation is used first so your pet is asleep before anything else, and the appointment is calm and unhurried, usually around an hour from arrival to leaving. The visit can happen in the kitchen, the front room, a porch or a back garden, whichever feels right for the dog or cat. Cremation is arranged through a trusted Lancashire provider, private or communal, with ashes returned within 48 hours. Costs are explained clearly on the booking call and stay the same on the day. The number on this page is the local line for the Rochdale and Rossendale area and is answered by someone who books our local vets in person.

Common questions.

How do I know it is time?

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.

How quickly can you come?

Most visits across Rochdale & Rossendale and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.

What happens during the visit?

Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.

Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?

Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£60 each, or £89 combined). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.

Can my children or other pets be there?

Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.

What about cremation and aftercare?

We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.

Which areas around Rochdale & Rossendale are covered for same-day visits?

Across the OL11, OL12, OL16 postcodes we can usually reach a home in Rochdale & Rossendale the same day, including Norden, Bamford, Littleborough and Milnrow. Rural fringes and outlying areas may be next-morning earliest if the call comes in late in the day, but we will tell you straight away when we phone back. Lines are open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

Do you cover Norden?

Yes, Norden sits within our Rochdale & Rossendale cover area and we visit there regularly. If you are right on the edge of where the Rochdale & Rossendale team reaches, please phone the local number first to confirm. Most postcodes around Rochdale & Rossendale are covered without a travel surcharge, and we will be straight with you if a different local team would actually get to you faster.

How things end matters.

We are here whenever you are ready.

Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Rochdale & Rossendale team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
