We allow as long as your family needs. This is never rushed.

Covering OL1, OL2, OL4, OL8, OL9& surrounding postcodes

Local to you, across Oldham and the surrounding area.

Oldham climbs into the western edge of the Pennines and the homes we visit here have the sloping, stone-fronted feel of a town built on the hill. Many of the families we see live in long-resident terraces in Werneth, Coppice and Glodwick, semis around Royton and Chadderton, or the higher streets of Lees and Springhead where the Saddleworth villages start. The dogs we are asked to see have often walked the country park at Dovestone, the canal at Failsworth, Tandle Hill or the long climb up onto Slaithwaite Moor for years; the cats are usually long-resident in a single back room of a terraced house off Yorkshire Street or Manchester Road. By the time families ring, putting your pet in the car for a clinic visit up the A627 is rarely what they want for the last appointment. We cover Oldham itself across OL1 to OL9, including Werneth, Coppice, Glodwick, Hollinwood, Salem, Royton, Shaw, Chadderton, Lees, Springhead and Grotton, and we travel out to Failsworth, Crompton and the Saddleworth villages of Greenfield, Uppermill and Diggle. Our vets are RCVS-registered. Sedation is used first so your pet is asleep before anything else, and the appointment is unhurried. Cremation is arranged through a trusted Greater Manchester crematorium, with private or communal options. The number on this page is the Manchester line, answered by a person who books our local vets for Oldham home visits.

How it works.

Three steps. We handle everything around the clinical care so your family can focus on being there.

1

Call or message

Speak to a calm, experienced team member on the local number, or message on WhatsApp. We help you plan timing and answer any questions before anything is booked.

2

A vet visits your home

An RCVS-qualified vet arrives at the agreed time, explains gently what will happen, gives a sedative first, and takes as long as your family needs.

3

We handle the aftercare

If you have chosen cremation, we co-ordinate everything with a trusted partner. Ashes returned, or communal cremation if you prefer.

Common questions.

How do I know it is time?

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.

How quickly can you come?

Most visits across Oldham and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.

What happens during the visit?

Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.

Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?

Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£70 each, or £89 combined, and £100 overnight). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.

Can my children or other pets be there?

Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.

What about cremation and aftercare?

We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.

How long does a vet from your team take to get to Oldham?

We work to whatever timescale suits the family rather than to a fixed arrival window. When you phone us, we usually have a vet confirmed for you within around twenty minutes, and then the visit is booked for the time you have asked for, whether that is later the same day, this evening, or a quieter morning slot. If you would like someone as soon as possible, say so on the call and we will tell you the earliest we can be there.

Do you cover Werneth?

Yes, Werneth sits within our Oldham cover area and we visit there regularly. If you are right on the edge of where the Oldham team reaches, please phone the local number first to confirm. Most postcodes around Oldham are covered without a travel surcharge, and we will be straight with you if a different local team would actually get to you faster.

How things end matters.

We are here whenever you are ready.

Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Oldham team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
