Not sure if we cover your village? Phone the local number and we will let you know.

Oxford is a small city that runs into open fields quickly and the dogs we visit have usually walked the same paths for years: Port Meadow for the homes in Jericho, Walton Manor and Summertown, Christ Church Meadow for the city-centre flats and the streets in St Ebbes and Grandpont, South Park for the older retrievers and labradors of Headington and New Marston, Shotover Country Park for the families in Shotover and Wood Farm, the Thames towpath through Iffley Lock for the dogs of Iffley and Rose Hill. Florence Park for the streets around East Oxford and Cowley. Cats are long-resident garden cats in a Jericho terrace, a Cowley Road bay window or a Summertown semi, going in and out the back door for years. By the time someone calls us, putting an elderly pet into the car along Banbury Road or out onto the ring road for a clinic visit is rarely the right last thing. We cover the OX postcodes across the city: Jericho, Walton Manor, Summertown, North Oxford, Wolvercote, Marston, New Marston, Headington, Old Headington, Risinghurst, Wood Farm, Cowley, Temple Cowley, Florence Park, East Oxford, Iffley, Rose Hill, Littlemore, Grandpont, St Ebbes, Botley and Cumnor. Our vets are RCVS-registered and the visit is unhurried. Sedation is used first. Cremation is arranged through a trusted local crematorium. The number on this page is our central booking line, answered by a person who will arrange a vet for your home visit in Oxford.

Common questions.

How do I know it is time?

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.

How quickly can you come?

Most visits across Oxford and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.

What happens during the visit?

Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.

Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?

Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£70 each, or £89 combined, and £100 overnight). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.

Can my children or other pets be there?

Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.

What about cremation and aftercare?

We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.

Which areas around Oxford are covered for same-day visits?

Across the OX1, OX2, OX3 postcodes we can usually reach a home in Oxford the same day, including Headington, Cowley, Summertown and Jericho. Rural fringes and outlying areas may be next-morning earliest if the call comes in late in the day, but we will tell you straight away when we phone back. Lines are open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

Do you cover Headington?

Yes, Headington sits within our Oxford cover area and we visit there regularly. If you are right on the edge of where the Oxford team reaches, please phone the local number first to confirm. Most postcodes around Oxford are covered without a travel surcharge, and we will be straight with you if a different local team would actually get to you faster.

How things end matters.

We are here whenever you are ready.

Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Oxford team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
