Ormskirk is a market town with a clock tower, a covered market and a lot of older houses on the lanes out toward Aughton, Burscough and Lathom. Skelmersdale, a few miles south, is newer in character but no less rooted; many of the families we visit there have been in the same house since the new town was first built. The dogs we see have walked the canal towpaths around Burscough and Halsall, the woods at Beacon Country Park, or the lanes out toward the mosses for years. We cover Ormskirk, Aughton, Burscough, Halsall, Lathom and Westhead, and we travel down to Skelmersdale, Up Holland, Newburgh, Parbold and Appley Bridge. We will also reach Tarleton, Rufford, Hesketh Bank and Banks if you are out toward the coast. Our vets are RCVS-registered. Sedation is the first step so your pet is asleep before anything else happens, and the visit is unhurried. The appointment can be in a kitchen, a quiet corner of the lounge, a porch or a back garden, wherever fits your pet best. Cremation is arranged through a local Lancashire crematorium, with private and communal options. Ashes come back within 48 hours. One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.
Most visits across Ormskirk & Skelmersdale and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.
Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.
Cremation is arranged through a trusted North West partner, so your pet stays in the local area. The cremation partner collects your pet directly from your home in Ormskirk & Skelmersdale after the appointment, and they return the ashes, usually within 48 hours. If you would prefer communal cremation, with no ashes returned, that option is available too. Either way, the choice is yours and we will explain everything before the visit.
