Local to you, across Norwich and the surrounding area.

Norwich is a small cathedral city with a strong sense of place and the homes we visit reflect that. The dogs we are asked to see have usually walked the same routes for years: Eaton Park and the Yare for the streets around Eaton and Cringleford, Mousehold Heath for the older retrievers of Thorpe Hamlet and Heartsease, Waterloo Park for the families in Mile Cross and Wensum, Earlham Park for the homes around the university and Bowthorpe, Whitlingham Country Park for the dogs out at Trowse and Whitlingham. The Cow Tower walk along the Wensum is a favourite for the older spaniels and labradors we visit. Cats are usually long-resident garden cats in a Golden Triangle Edwardian terrace or a Sprowston semi, in and out the back door for a decade. By the time we are called, putting an elderly pet into a car along Earlham Road or out onto the A11 for a clinic visit is rarely the right last thing. We cover the NR postcodes across the city: Tombland, Magdalen Street, Mile Cross, Wensum, Heartsease, Thorpe Hamlet, Thorpe St Andrew, Sprowston, Catton, Hellesdon, Bowthorpe, Earlham, Eaton, Cringleford, Lakenham, Trowse, Tuckswood and Lakenfields. Our vets are RCVS-registered and the visit is unhurried. Sedation is used first. Cremation is arranged through a trusted Norfolk crematorium. The number on this page is our central booking line, answered by a person who will arrange a vet for your home visit in Norwich.

Common questions.

How do I know it is time?

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.

How quickly can you come?

Most visits across Norwich and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.

What happens during the visit?

Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.

Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?

Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£70 each, or £89 combined, and £100 overnight). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.

Can my children or other pets be there?

Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.

What about cremation and aftercare?

We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.

Where will my pet be cremated from Norwich?

Cremation is handled through a trusted partner working across the East of England, so your pet stays in the local area. The cremation partner collects your pet directly from your home in Norwich after the appointment, and they return the ashes, usually within 48 hours. If you would prefer communal cremation, with no ashes returned, that option is available too. Either way, the choice is yours and we will explain everything before the visit.

Will the vet visiting Norwich have done this before?

Yes, every vet visiting Norwich is RCVS-qualified and trained for at-home euthanasia, the same gentle process every time. The same gentle process is followed on every visit: introductions and time to settle, a sedative first so your pet drifts into a deep sleep, and only then the final injection. We never rush, and we will explain each step quietly as we go.

How things end matters.

We are here whenever you are ready.

Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Norwich team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
