Cambridgeshire is a county of two halves. The city itself, with its college backs, river paths and quiet residential streets out toward Cherry Hinton and Trumpington, has a steady flow of families whose dogs have walked along Coe Fen and Midsummer Common for years. North of the city the landscape opens out into the Fens, and the homes we visit are often farmhouses or village cottages with long views and very settled cats. We cover Cambridge proper across CB1 to CB5, out to Ely, Soham and Littleport, and as far north as Peterborough, March and Whittlesey. We also visit Huntingdon, St Ives, St Neots and the villages around Grafham Water. Our vets are RCVS-registered and the appointment is unhurried, typically around an hour, with no clock-watching. We can use a quiet corner of the garden if that feels better than indoors. Cremation is arranged through a trusted East of England provider, with private and communal options, and ashes returned in a simple casket within 48 hours. We will explain the cost in plain terms before you book, with nothing added on the day. If you are in one of the smaller Fen villages and unsure whether you are inside our area, please call and we will tell you straight; we travel a long way across this county and we would rather you ask than not.

Honest, transparent pricing
Fair care means fair pricing. Here is exactly what a home visit costs in Cambridgeshire. Out-of-hours covers evenings, nights and early mornings, and any time at weekends or on bank holidays. Only one of these is ever added.
Travel is £25 for the first 15 miles, then £1.60 per mile after that. Any additional mileage is confirmed clearly before you book.
These fees are for the at-home euthanasia appointment only and do not include cremation or aftercare. We can arrange cremation and aftercare for you if you wish, and we will provide a clear quote for those services before you book, so you know the full cost before confirming the appointment.

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.
Most visits across Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.
Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.
Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£60 each, or £89 combined). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.
Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.
We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.
Across the CB, PE postcodes we can usually reach a home in Cambridgeshire the same day, including Cambridge, Ely, Peterborough and Huntingdon. Rural fringes and outlying areas may be next-morning earliest if the call comes in late in the day, but we will tell you straight away when we phone back. Lines are open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
