Not sure if we cover your village? Phone the local number and we will let you know.

Northampton is a town that holds onto its older neighbourhoods well and the dogs we visit have usually walked the same patch for years: Abington Park for the streets around Abington and Spinney Hill, the Racecourse for the homes in Kingsthorpe and Phippsville, Becket's Park and the Nene Way for the older retrievers and labradors of Far Cotton and Briar Hill, Bradlaugh Fields for the families around Boothville and Parklands, Delapre Abbey grounds for the dogs out at Delapre and Wootton. Cats are usually long-resident garden cats in a St James semi or a Duston cul-de-sac, going in and out the back door for years. By the time someone rings us, putting an elderly pet into a car along Wellingborough Road or out onto the A45 for a clinic visit is rarely the right last thing. We cover the NN postcodes across the town: Town Centre, Mounts, Semilong, Kingsthorpe, Phippsville, Abington, Spinney Hill, Far Cotton, Briar Hill, Cotton End, Delapre, Wootton, St James, Dallington, Duston, New Duston, Kings Heath, Spencer, Eastfield, Boothville, Parklands, Moulton Park and Westone. Our vets are RCVS-registered and the visit is unhurried. Sedation is used first so your pet is asleep before anything else. Cremation is arranged through a trusted Midlands crematorium with private or communal options, ashes returned within 48 hours. The number on this page is our central booking line, answered by a person who will arrange a vet for your home visit in Northampton.

Common questions.

How do I know it is time?

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.

How quickly can you come?

Most visits across Northampton and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.

What happens during the visit?

Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.

Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?

Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£70 each, or £89 combined, and £100 overnight). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.

Can my children or other pets be there?

Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.

What about cremation and aftercare?

We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.

Where will my pet be cremated from Northampton?

Cremation is arranged through a trusted Midlands partner, so your pet stays in the local area. The cremation partner collects your pet directly from your home in Northampton after the appointment, and they return the ashes, usually within 48 hours. If you would prefer communal cremation, with no ashes returned, that option is available too. Either way, the choice is yours and we will explain everything before the visit.

Do you cover Abington?

Yes, Abington sits within our Northampton cover area and we visit there regularly. If you are right on the edge of where the Northampton team reaches, please phone the local number first to confirm. Most postcodes around Northampton are covered without a travel surcharge, and we will be straight with you if a different local team would actually get to you faster.

How things end matters.

We are here whenever you are ready.

Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Northampton team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
