Local to you, across Plymouth and the surrounding area.
Plymouth sits between two estuaries and the Sound and the dogs we visit have usually walked the same routes for years: the Hoe and the Sound foreshore for the homes around the city centre and Stonehouse, Central Park for the streets in Peverell, Mutley and Mannamead, the Plym Valley path for the older retrievers and labradors of Plympton and Plymstock, Saltram Park for the dogs at Saltram and Colebrook, Devonport Park for the families around Devonport and Stoke, the Tamar at Saltash Passage for the homes in St Budeaux and Ernesettle. The coast at Wembury and Bovisand is a favourite walk for the older spaniels we see. Cats are usually long-resident garden cats in a Peverell terrace, a Plymstock semi or a Crownhill cul-de-sac. By the time someone calls us, putting an elderly pet into the car along the A38 or down through Marsh Mills for a clinic visit is rarely the right last thing. We cover the PL postcodes across the city: City Centre, Hoe, Barbican, Stonehouse, Devonport, Stoke, Ford, Keyham, St Budeaux, Ernesettle, Honicknowle, Manadon, Crownhill, Derriford, Estover, Eggbuckland, Mutley, Mannamead, Peverell, Hartley, Compton, Plympton, Plymstock, Elburton and Turnchapel. Our vets are RCVS-registered and the visit is unhurried. Sedation is used first. Cremation is arranged through a trusted Devon crematorium. The number on this page is our central booking line, answered by a person who will arrange a vet for your home visit in Plymouth.

Common questions.
How do I know it is time?+
One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.
How quickly can you come?+
Most visits across Plymouth and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.
What happens during the visit?+
Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.
Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?+
Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£70 each, or £89 combined, and £100 overnight). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.
Can my children or other pets be there?+
Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.
What about cremation and aftercare?+
We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.
Which areas around Plymouth are covered for same-day visits?+
Across the PL1, PL2, PL3 postcodes we can usually reach a home in Plymouth the same day, including Mutley, Mannamead, Peverell and Plympton. Rural fringes and outlying areas may be next-morning earliest if the call comes in late in the day, but we will tell you straight away when we phone back. Lines are open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
Will the vet visiting Plymouth have done this before?+
Yes, every vet visiting Plymouth is RCVS-qualified and trained for at-home euthanasia, the same gentle process every time. The same gentle process is followed on every visit: introductions and time to settle, a sedative first so your pet drifts into a deep sleep, and only then the final injection. We never rush, and we will explain each step quietly as we go.
Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Plymouth team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
