Local to you, across Bristol and the surrounding area.

Bristol is a city of villages stitched together by its hills, and the dogs we visit have often walked Clifton Downs or the Ashton Court estate for years. Cats are typically long-settled in a single front room. By the time the family is ready to talk about the final visit, an elderly pet in a car across the Cumberland Basin to a clinic is rarely the right last thing.

What a visit looks like in Bristol

  • RCVS-qualified vet at your door, often the same morning
  • Sedation first on a familiar bed or blanket; final injection only when your pet is in a deep sleep
  • Cremation arranged with a trusted local partner who collect directly from your home
  • Ashes returned within 48 hours if you choose private cremation

Our vets cover the BS postcodes across the city and reach Clifton, Bishopston, Redland, Southville and Bedminster in same-day cover, with Long Ashton, Henbury and Downend usually reachable without a surcharge. Portishead, Nailsea and Keynsham sit within same-day reach when the call comes in early. Sedation is given first so your pet is in a deep sleep on a familiar bed before the final injection, and the appointment is unhurried, usually around an hour. Cremation is arranged through a trusted regional partner who collect directly from the home; private cremation returns the ashes within 48 hours. The number on this page is a direct local Bristol line.

How it works.

Three steps. We handle everything around the clinical care so your family can focus on being there.

1

Call or message

Speak to a calm, experienced team member on the local number, or message on WhatsApp. We help you plan timing and answer any questions before anything is booked.

2

A vet visits your home

An RCVS-qualified vet arrives at the agreed time, explains gently what will happen, gives a sedative first, and takes as long as your family needs.

3

We handle the aftercare

If you have chosen cremation, we co-ordinate everything with a trusted partner. Ashes returned, or communal cremation if you prefer.

Common questions.

How do I know it is time?

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.

How quickly can you come?

Most visits across Bristol and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.

What happens during the visit?

Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.

Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?

Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£70 each, or £89 combined, and £100 overnight). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.

Can my children or other pets be there?

Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.

What about cremation and aftercare?

We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.

Where will my pet be cremated from Bristol?

Cremation is handled through a trusted partner working across the South West, so your pet stays in the local area. The cremation partner collects your pet directly from your home in Bristol after the appointment, and they return the ashes, usually within 48 hours. If you would prefer communal cremation, with no ashes returned, that option is available too. Either way, the choice is yours and we will explain everything before the visit.

How long does a vet from your team take to get to Bristol?

We work to whatever timescale suits the family rather than to a fixed arrival window. When you phone us, we usually have a vet confirmed for you within around twenty minutes, and then the visit is booked for the time you have asked for, whether that is later the same day, this evening, or a quieter morning slot. If you would like someone as soon as possible, say so on the call and we will tell you the earliest we can be there.

How things end matters.

We are here whenever you are ready.

Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Bristol team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
