Covering EX1, EX2, EX4& surrounding postcodes

Local to you, across Exeter and the surrounding area.

Exeter is a small city with a long memory and the dogs we visit have usually walked the same paths for years: the Quay and the Exe Estuary trail for the homes in St Thomas and Alphington, Belmont Park for the Newtown and St James streets, Bury Meadow and Northernhay Gardens for the older terraces around Pennsylvania, Ludwell Valley Park for the families in Wonford and Whipton. The Topsham road and the river path are favourites for the labradors and spaniels we see. Cats are long-resident garden cats in a Heavitree semi or a St Leonards Victorian terrace with the back door always cracked. By the time someone rings us, putting an elderly pet into a car along Honiton Road or out onto the A30 for a clinic visit is rarely the right last thing. We cover central Exeter and out across the city: St Leonards, Mount Pleasant, Heavitree, Whipton, Wonford, Pinhoe, Polsloe, Newtown, St James, Pennsylvania, Stoke Hill, Exwick, St Thomas, Alphington and Marsh Barton. We will travel out to Topsham, Pinhoe, Broadclyst and the villages on the M5 side of the city without a surcharge. Our vets are RCVS-registered and the visit is unhurried. Sedation is used first so your pet is asleep before anything else. Cremation is arranged through a trusted Devon crematorium with private or communal options. The number on this page is our central booking line, answered by a person who will arrange a vet for your home visit in Exeter.

How it works.

Three steps. We handle everything around the clinical care so your family can focus on being there.

Call or message

Speak to a calm, experienced team member on the local number, or message on WhatsApp. We help you plan timing and answer any questions before anything is booked.

2

A vet visits your home

An RCVS-qualified vet arrives at the agreed time, explains gently what will happen, gives a sedative first, and takes as long as your family needs.

3

We handle the aftercare

If you have chosen cremation, we co-ordinate everything with a trusted partner. Ashes returned, or communal cremation if you prefer.

Common questions.

How do I know it is time?

One of the hardest questions any family faces. Our free Quality of Life Assessment walks you through the signs vets look for, mobility, appetite, comfort, interest in surroundings. You are also welcome to phone and talk it through. There is no pressure either way.

How quickly can you come?

Most visits across Exeter and the surrounding area are booked same-day, often within a couple of hours. Pre-planned visits for a specific day and time are also available. For urgent, out-of-hours situations the local number is answered from 8am to 8pm.

What happens during the visit?

Your vet arrives, introduces themselves quietly, and takes a few minutes to explain what will happen. They give your pet a gentle sedative first, so they become relaxed and sleepy, usually resting in your arms or on their bed. Only then is the final injection given, and your pet slips away peacefully. We never rush this.

Does it cost more for evenings or weekends?

Out-of-hours and same-day visits carry a small surcharge (£70 each, or £89 combined, and £100 overnight). The visit fee itself is the same regardless of day or time.

Can my children or other pets be there?

Yes, if you would like. Many families find it helpful to say goodbye together. We take your lead on who is present and make sure everyone feels comfortable, including other pets in the household.

What about cremation and aftercare?

We co-ordinate everything. You can choose individual cremation (ashes returned to you), communal cremation (no ashes returned), or home burial if that is what you prefer. No pressure, just the options explained clearly.

Which areas around Exeter are covered for same-day visits?

Across the EX1, EX2, EX4 postcodes we can usually reach a home in Exeter the same day, including St Leonards, Heavitree, St Thomas and Pennsylvania. Rural fringes and outlying areas may be next-morning earliest if the call comes in late in the day, but we will tell you straight away when we phone back. Lines are open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

Do you cover St Leonards?

Yes, St Leonards sits within our Exeter cover area and we visit there regularly. If you are right on the edge of where the Exeter team reaches, please phone the local number first to confirm. Most postcodes around Exeter are covered without a travel surcharge, and we will be straight with you if a different local team would actually get to you faster.

How things end matters.

We are here whenever you are ready.

Whether you need us today or you would like to plan ahead, the Exeter team is here to listen. No pressure, just a calm conversation about what is best for your pet.
